SKATING IS HARD

Yes, that was the conclusion drawn by Bruce Jenner, Kristy Swanson, Dave Coulier and Jillian Barbieri last night on Skating With Celebrities.

Skating is Hard and Falling Down Hurts. I'm glad that controversy was settled once and for all.

Otherwise, what can I say about last night's showing...

This year at Nationals, it felt like Peggy Fleming concluded each blah program by complimenting that it was "pleasant."

Oh, but that I could say the same about the routines last night.

They were not pleasant. Even my personal faves, Tai Babilonia and Bruce Jenner, had that Midori Ito-esque moment when they ended up off the ice.

So I'll go with Peggy's other stand-by for the deserving losers, Nancy Kerrigan and Dave. Their costumes were a lovely shade of blue.

My final thought is, though I would love for Bruce and Tai to take this whole thing, based on last night's scores, it looks like my brother's and my predictions for the top two are coming true.

Well you never know...Bruce and Tai might be able to pull it off yet. They are very enjoyable to watch. I think that Randy Gardner has done a good job putting together their programs. I'm curious what music will be selected for each of the three teams next week. Do you think the judges will lean towards classical selections?

I think classical is a great idea, Denise. Boogying can hide a lot of skating flaws.

I think it will come down to your brother's picks. I was really glad that Bruce made it into the next round, but I don't know if he'll last past next week.

I was impressed with Kristy's improvement. Jillian is a great skater, but when I think in terms of improvement since the first week, Kristy and Bruce have made much greater strides. Its mostly because they had the furthest to come. But hey, wasn't that the point of all this?
