Romance and Mystery Novels

by Alina Adams

There are changes afoot!

After four years of "Where Are They Now... on Ice," the December 2007 publication of my fifth and final figure skating mystery, "Skate Crime," as well as the New York Times best-selling success of my soap opera tie-in novels, "Oakdale Confidential" and "Jonathan's Story," has prompted me to take this blog in -- as they love to say on daytime TV -- a different direction.

In addition to continuing the updates and exclusive interviews with former national and international skating champions (and there are still the archives; just type your favorite skater's name into the search box below), I am expanding to include irreverent commentary on soaps, primetime television, books, writing for a living, kids, husbands, friends and anything else that might cross my mind on a given day.

Thanks for visiting!

WHERE ARE THEY NOW: RYAN HUNKA

PRESS RELEASE: AVIATOR SPORTS AND RECREATION NAMES RYAN HUNKA DIRECTOR OF SKATING AND CREATIVE PERFORMANCE

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Aviator Sports and Recreation, Brooklyn’s new 25 acre mega-sports complex located at Floyd Bennett Field, has appointed Ryan Hunka Director of Skating and Creative Performance.

Hunka brings with him unprecedented expertise and a top quality staff to the Aviator Figure Skating Academy, which will serve as both an international educational learning center and a competitive arena.

As director of the Aviator Skating Academy, Hunka, the 1992 United States National Junior Men’s Champion, will oversee all aspects of daily operations, including scheduling, staffing, coaching, and event coordinating.

The programs, which will be offered for people of all ages and abilities, include public skating, skating lessons, competitive figure skating, and social skating.

“The Aviator Sports and Recreation family is both proud and excited to welcome Hunka to Brooklyn’s premier skating facility,” said Marcus Minifee, Vice President of Marketing and Corporate Partnerships. “He and his staff provide a unique opportunity for beginner and recreational skaters to discover a love for the sport and for competitive skaters to strive towards Olympic Gold under the tutelage of former national and international champions.”

Hunka has experience in all facets of skating. He is currently one of the world’s top skating producers and choreographers having been involved with and choreographing the television programs Skating’s Next Star, Legends on Ice, and the Major League Figure Skating Professional Championships/Extravaganza.

In addition to his impressive resume, he also brings a staff of experienced and successful instructors. The staff includes 2002 Olympic bronze medalist Timothy Goebel, two-time French National Champion Axel Medric, World Junior Champion Ann Patrice McDonough, Skating’s Next Stars’ Chris Tombs and Kristin Dority as well as former national competitor Jenni Tew.

I am anxious to see how this program grows. Ryan Hunka is very well respected and so good with people. Top that with a mega complex and it will be a winner

I agree. This place is amazing. I saw Ryan Hunka doing Choreography the other day and his style is so unique. I hear that many of the competitive kids will be going to Aviator because of him and the coaches that are on staff

I have been coming to Aviator because of all the buzz about what Ryan Hunka is planning for the future. I remember him when he was National Junior Champion in Orlando. I heard several months ago that he was in New York. I am sure Aviator Sports is happy to have Ryan as the Director.
